New forest in a floodplain – protecting climate, soil, and water
In spring 2025, a new reforestation site was created in Geyer – one of five areas we were able to establish together with the German Forest Protection Association (SDW) in Saxony. In total, 5.85 hectares of new forest were planted. Especially here, in a floodplain, the young forest plays an important role: it helps protect the soil, retain water, and support climate stability in a sensitive region.
The afforestation site in Geyer lies in an area prone to flooding. Here, we planted climate-resilient tree species well suited to the local conditions, giving them the best chance to grow strong and stable. This not only creates ecological value but also enhances the quality of life in the region.
To ensure that the young trees establish themselves well, a wildlife fence protects the seedlings from browsing. The SDW manages the area as part of its work and carries out the necessary measures during the critical initial growth phase.
Our objectives for this site
- Increase of forest area in a flood-prone region
- Climate protection, soil protection, and flood prevention
- Improvement of local quality of life and regional attractiveness
- Enhancement of the landscape

The photo documentation by the SDW shows that the young trees are growing healthily on the green area so far.
