Make big polluters’ emissions impossible

Emission: Impossible

For millennia, the planet has successfully balanced the emission and absorption of various gasses in the atmosphere. But now, this self-correcting ecosystem is under the threat of a small group of secretive business administrators, aiming to improve their shareholders’ quarterly figures. They are dangerously close to permanently dismantle humanity’s livelihood as well as that of thousands of other species.

The need to act today emerges from the imminent tipping points. Should one of the sixteen climate elements tip, chaos ensues and damage will be irreversible.

We need reliable intelligence and we need it now

Through misinformation campaigns, your adversaries have sabotaged international governmental efforts to protect the climate. Their industrial facilities continue to burn coal, oil and gas and through that, add a suffocating blanket of poisonous gas to our atmosphere.

This carbon dioxide and other chemical compounds are trapping rays of sunlight, causing the planet’s temperature to skyrocket.

To be blunt: the situation is dire. Time is running out for political processes to be in time to protect our changes of survival on planet Earth. But our organisation, ForTomorrow, has hacked one of the technocratic systems that is used to reign in the big polluters.

Hacking the EU Emission Trading System

The EU Emission Trading System (EU-ETS) is the European Union’s main instrument to force the industry to reduce their emissions within a few decades. This very successful program is lowering emissions while raising money to invest in sustainable technologies. All using market mechanisms, without taxing businesses or consumers.

Under this system, big polluters in the EU must buy emission rights. The amount of emission rights is limited by the EU government. No new emission rights will be auctioned off after 2039.

Our approach to stopping our adversaries’ plans to destroy our ecosystems is simple: Buy away the industry’s emission rights and remove them from the system.

Everybody can join

With only those running industrial plants in the biggest polluting industries having a need to interact with it, the EU-ETS is obscure among the general public. You can’t just open an account and access the system.

But we at ForTomorrow found a way in. We can collectively buy away the big polluters’ emission rights. ForTomorrow then cancels these rights and make sure that they can’t be used to emit CO2. For each emission right we cancel, one tonne of CO2 will be permanently banned from our atmosphere. Our mission is possible.
