With your donation, we buy European one emission allowance (EUA) from the European Union’s capped carbon trading system. Then we cancel it, which means it’s destroyed forever!

This way, we force the big CO2 emitters in the EU, like coal-fired power plants, to emit less CO2. Because European emission allowances determine how much carbon emissions can be emitted in the EU. This is the most effective way to avoid emissions that we know of.
