Three hectares of new mixed forest for stable ecosystems
In Stangengrün, another area of the Saxony-wide reforestation project was planted in spring 2025. Together with SDW, ForTomorrow has created a total of 5.85 hectares of new forest area in flood-prone areas of Saxony.
The area in Stangengrün is located on a slope and is particularly vulnerable to soil erosion and water runoff. Targeted planting is creating a structurally rich, climate-resilient mixed forest here.
A wildlife fence was erected to protect the young seedlings. The SDW, who have planted the trees, have committed to protecting and maintaining the site for the next five years. By that time, the saplings will have grown into young, solid trees.
The other tree species mentioned above are part of a natural forest edge design with a total of 250 hawthorns, hazels, spindle trees, common snowballs, and red dogwoods.
